Touring Home
Count yourself in for our weekend and mid-week tours of varying lengths and speeds through the rolling
country around the GTA and beyond. You can go faster and longer with our Sportif Group, choose a moderate
pace with Classic or slower paced Touring groups. We have organised
rides on Saturday, Sunday & Wednesday mornings as well as Tuesday & Thursday evenings. Details including
dates, start times and departure points are found on our Touring Schedule.
Riders new to the BCC are asked to contact the VP Touring either by e-mail or phone
prior to your first ride so that we can be sure that you join the group most suited to your needs. If you
find that you later wish to change to a faster or slower group you may do so at any time as you are not
locked in to any one group.
Our group structure is:
- Touring 2 rides are slower paced rides where speeds normally average 19-22 km/h. The rides are typically 60-70 km in the early season, increasing to 80-100 km in the summer. Please read the information for Touring 2 for more details.
- Touring 1 rides normally average 23-25 km/h. The rides are typically 70-80 km in the early season, increasing to 90-110 km in the summer. Please read the information for Touring 1 for more details.
- Classic rides normally average 26-28 km/h. The rides are typically 70-80km in the early season, increasing to 90-110km in the summer. Please read the information for Classic for more details.
- Sportif rides are our fastest non-racing rides. Speeds normally average 29-32 km/h. but could be faster. The rides are typically 80-90km in the early season, increasing to 100-120km in the summer. Please read the information for Sportif for more details.
Our weekly rides:
- Saturday morning rides are our main tours and the typical speeds & distances described above apply to these events. Our 4 groups each have their own pre-designated leader & will ride independently of each other. The distance & destination are decided in advance by the leader.
- Wednesday morning rides generally have no scheduled leaders, the distance/destination/pace will be decided upon by the group which shows up on that day. These rides should accommodate Touring, Classic & Sportif & are listed in the touring schedule.
- Tuesday and Thursday evening rides are not detailed on the schedule, but there is usually a ride departing the Sobey’s Plaza (10th Line, south of Britannia in Mississauga) at 6:00 pm. These are fast paced rides suitable for those who like to work hard. There is also a Classic group that departs from the Mayfield Community Centre (Bramalea Rd., just north of Mayfield Rd. in Brampton) at 6:00 pm every Thursday between April & August. In addition a new (2010 season) fast paced club ride every 2nd Thursday at 6:00 pm departing from Georgetown Go – schedule will be posted on forum.
- Sunday morning rides are cruising rides of various distances up to 100 km. A tour leader and the destination will be determined by the group which shows up on the day. Rides will depart from the Sobey's Plaza (10th Line, south of Britannia in Mississauga) at 9:00 am.
