As cyclists, we are vulnerable to many hazards unique to our pastime while using public roads. This
section of our website provides some helpful advice on how to develop skills that will help you
minimize risk and stay safe when hazards arise.
First, we suggest that you attend some of BCC’s skills clinics:
- BCC’s Group Riding Clinic is held on occasional Sunday mornings, and teaches
new members the basics of riding safely in a pack, and how to perform group manoeuvres such as
rotation. For details, see
Group Riding Clinic.
- BCC’s Bike Handling Skills Clinic is held once or twice a year on a Sunday morning.
This 2-hour session provides techniques for improving your bike handling skills, and allows you to
practice executing some emergency manoeuvres. For details, see
Bike Handling Skills document (pdf).
For dates and times for these clinics,
refer to the Events Calendar and
the Touring Schedule.
