Road Advisory / Re: King Vaughn Road Closed
« Last post by Steve Maxwell on June 28, 2017, 09:30:59 PM »
Here is the information from York Region https://www.vaughan.ca/news/Info%20Centre/General%20Documents/Notice%20of%20Construction%20Commencement%20-%20Highway%20400%20-%20June%202017.pdf

The work is being done at Hwy 400 and King-Vaughn road and I still have no definite answer. It states that:
Quote
To facilitate construction, Kirby Road and King-Vaughan Road will be closed sequentially between Weston Road and Jane Street.  The exact timing of these closures will be confirmed at a later date

General Discussion / 150 Years of Cycling in Canada
« Last post by Steve Maxwell on June 27, 2017, 01:15:00 PM »
As we celebrate the 150th birthday of Canada, I wanted to look at cycling in Canada for the past 150 years. A visit to the local library yielded little information so armed with my trusted laptop and Google, I went on the internet in search of whatever I could find. The attached document is a brief summary of information that is available. I learned a lot about the history of cycling in Canada and I got familiar with some of the names of the legends.

I hope you will find the document useful as you take the journey into the past to discover the rich history of cycling in Canada.

Special thanks to Allen McGregor for keeping us on course and to Dave Rice for starting each morning at the Lafayette Motel with an excellent cup of coffee!

The suggestion by Rodrigo to post as official and at 8:00AM makes sense. It allows for the almost six hours of seat time and would benefit the Georgetown Hospital Foundation through the Halton Hills Bike Challenge.
Oh Canada. Go Canada !

Steve, Could I suggest something? Why not posted as a official ride for that Sunday and make a start at 8:00AM instead of 9:00AM with you as the Lead?
Thanks!

Steve,
I like your idea and as Geoff suggested the Sunday ride from Sobey's on July 2nd is a stroke of genius because celebrations for Canada Day will continue through out that long weekend!
Count me in for Sunday if you are doing it that day.
Wear Red and White for that day!
Oh Canada! 8)
